Do you know that singing with others has proven health benefits?
Singing is one of the best actitivites seniors can engage in because it offers a myriad of health and wellness benefits. Senior choirs provide a strong community-based health promotion option for older adults. That's why Voices of Canton is offering Senior Sing!
Senior Sing, is a new community engagement program that fosters the creation of choirs in assisted living homes and senior centers. Armed with current research on the many benefits of group singing for the senior community, the goal is to utilize choral music as a catalyst for positive development in the physical and mental health for this fastest growing segment of society. This engaging program aims to elicit proven health benefits of group singing, including improved health outcomes, reduced depression, increased engagement, and improved self-esteem. Last fall, Senior Sing partnered with the Canton Christian Home. Residents participated in twelve weeks of rehearsal culminating in a public performance on November 30th, 2016.
In the Fall of 2017 Senior Sing is partnering with Aultman Generations.
